Healthy Humble Hummus

Who could forget about humble hummus – it goes with virtually everything! It makes a nutritious and yummy sauce, salad dressing or dip. It is entirely made from beautiful plant-foods, including the magnificent chickpea which has been shown to steady blood sugar levels even the following day after consuming! Tahini is also a nutritious component of this age-old favourite, rich in calcium and iron.

Ingredients

For:
  • 1 can (400g) organic chickpeas (best unsalted)
  • 3 tbsp tahini
  • 3-4 tbsp filtered water
  • 1 large lemon juice
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/4-1/2 tsp sea salt
  • cracked black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin (optional)

Instructions

  1. Blend all the above ingredients together until smooth and creamy, using water to thin until your desired consistency. Extra virgin olive oil can be used in place of water, however I prefer to use water. Serve with a sprinkle of cumin or paprika, and enjoy 🙂
