Healthy Humble HummusJanuary 27, 2017
Who could forget about humble hummus – it goes with virtually everything! It makes a nutritious and yummy sauce, salad dressing or dip. It is entirely made from beautiful plant-foods, including the magnificent chickpea which has been shown to steady blood sugar levels even the following day after consuming! Tahini is also a nutritious component of this age-old favourite, rich in calcium and iron.
Ingredients
For:
- 1 can (400g) organic chickpeas (best unsalted)
- 3 tbsp tahini
- 3-4 tbsp filtered water
- 1 large lemon juice
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1/4-1/2 tsp sea salt
- cracked black pepper
- 1/2 tsp ground cumin (optional)
Instructions
- Blend all the above ingredients together until smooth and creamy, using water to thin until your desired consistency. Extra virgin olive oil can be used in place of water, however I prefer to use water. Serve with a sprinkle of cumin or paprika, and enjoy 🙂
